Allow subscribe and save options for customers on individual items

Allow subscribe and save options for customers on individual items

We are unfortunately looking to other ecommerce providers since Square does not currently have a subscription feature for Square Online. I am aware that you can create invoices for specific items, but this is not near the feature that is actually needed. Majority of ecommerce sites offer a "subscribe and save" option (see below for example). It is crucial for our customers to be able to have this feature. If not Square provided, can you please provide an integration that allows for this feature?

Re: Allow subscribe and save options for customers on individual items

Hello there @jes23

Sorry to hear that you are considering moving to a different eCommerce platform. You should be able to accomplish this with Online Checkout links where you create a one-time purchase link or a yearly (or whatever term applies to your business) for a lower monthly cost.

After the links are created you can include them on your website's subscription page or anywhere you like.

Here are the steps to create a subscription link:

  1. From your Square Dashboard, go to Payments >Subscriptions > Plans.
  2. Click Create a plan to add your plan details.
  3. In Name, create a title for your plan.
  4. Add the price for your plan and how frequently you will charge your subscribers.
  5. If your plan will end, set an endpoint, such as after a certain number of billing cycles. If you want your plan to be continuous, set it to Never.
  6. If you want to include a free trial in your plan, toggle on Free trial and set how long you want your free trial to last.
  7. You can allow customers to subscribe to the plan via a checkout link. Toggle on Subscribe online to create a checkout link you can share with your customers through email, social media, SMS, or your website.
  8. If you want to allow yourself or customers to pause subscriptions, toggle on Pause subscriptions. Set a pause duration limit. Choose No limit or By billing cycle.
  9. Tap Save to finish creating your plan.

I hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have other questions regarding this process.

@JJ_ How does this factor into our inventory? I want actual items we sell, not creating a new item.

yeah at this time we do not have Item subscriptions. However, I recommend you submit a Feature Request here. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers' interest in your request.

Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature will help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).
