After 15 years in the beauty industry, I have a million of them.
My favorite is from very early on in my career. One of my coworkers was scheduled to do on-location hair for a wedding. She had never met them in person it was all on the phone. I went along to assist her. We get there early and the front desk tells us where to park and where the wedding was. The bride that booked had a very common name. So we come in and introduce ourselves. We are setting up and I start prepping two of the bridesmaids.
We are halfway through their hair when my friend gets a call. She ignores it but it WON'T stop ringing. Around the same time, one of the moms comes over to me and asks who hired us.... I'm like I'm pretty sure it was the bride. And, the bride goes no.... not me. So I ask my co-worker and she is like your name is ____ right?
The bride is like yeah it is but I didn't book hair and makeup.
My co-worker looks at her phone and realized the "bride" is the one that has been calling non-stop.
WE WERE AT THE WRONG WEDDING!!!!!!
Our real clients were across the street at a different ballroom.
My coworker packed up and I stayed to finish the half-done bridesmaids. 🤦🏻♀️
I handles all the logistics after that when I worked with her. Both brides thought it was hilarious. I found out years later that our real bride has a picture in her album with that other bride and the bridesmaids.
