I had a customer pay an invoice last night around 11:30pm and it is now 8:30 the next day and the balance does not reflect the transaction in my square checking account. Is there usually such a long delay?
Hey there @Tyleringram1775. Unless this was an unusually large invoice payment, which sometimes causes a brief delay, the only reason I can think of is that the customer chose to pay with ACH rather than a credit card. The ACH system is nothing more than a glorified electronic check that has to work its way through various banking systems before Square actually receives the funds. The usual time to receive and post ACH payments is around 5 business days.
At first I thought that your funds might have been automatically transferred to your local bank account, since it was paid so late. But, since you said you have Square Checking, that can’t be the issue since Square Checking accounts turn of automatic transfers.
Thank you, not an unusually large invoice. It was the same amount as a week prior. Still no update to my balance.
Ok. Did you look at the transaction to see if they paid it via ACH this time?
They paid with a debit card
Ah. Ok. I’m out of ideas then. Your best bet will be to contact Square Support, then. Sorry I couldn’t help more.
