Changing Winds in Social Media?

I’m curious to hear from other creators/marketers: Are you still seeing consistent engagement on your primary platforms, or have you noticed a significant shift in where your audience is spending their time lately? Would love to know if you're doubling down on your current strategy or pivoting to new channels.

Hi Bonny,

I regularly posted on Insta and FB, but realised around this time last year that fewer and fewer followers were seeing the posts. It is my belief, that unless you are prepared to part with significant amounts of money to people who really don't care about you or your business, then you are wasting your time. If you are up for it, check the 1st 10 posts in your social media feed. I would be surprised if more than 50% are from people or pages you follow.

I moved to a monthly newsletter early this year and withdrew from social media for both my business and personal life. The time I have recovered has been energising.

that sounds lovely. I may move into pintrest because brides use it as a search engine for wedding planning (i sell bow ties), but I mainly use social media as a bulletin board for events. or just so PR folks looking can see we are still in business. but in general the juice is not worth the squeeze for us and has not been for quite a while

Hi Robbie,

Oh, I've noticed what's in the feed is next to worthless.  They spend a lot of time adding "Suggested for you" stuff that is an utter waste of time.  I hardly check my Facebook account anymore.  I still dabble with Instagram because just when I'm ready to hang it up, I hear from several customers that they saw something I posted and wanted one of those.  Had they not mentioned it, I would have been under the impression that no one was looking at my content.

We are getting more hits on instagram than any other platform right now.  Facebook has just become a wasteland of advertising.  I see more ads on Facebook than posts from my friends.

I've almost given up checking my business presence on Facebook.  Log in, post, log off.  The feed is utterly worthless.  It's an interesting algorithm for sure.
