Team App Messaging

Right now we use Homebase for scheduling because all employees are able to communicate through the app.  We use the Homebase messaging option a lot.  If the team app would have that option we would use square scheduling instead.  It would simplify things if we could just use the square team app for everything.

This would be a fantastic feature to have.

While we don't currently have a timeline for when this will be launched, with our acquisition of Crew, we will be expanding our options for teams, which will include a heavy focus on team communication.

Adding messaging and contact info for staff on the app makes logical sense. 

I would like to follow up and add support to this request. We really need to be able to message our team and competitor products from companies like Toast (Sling) allow for this ability and my staff has actually asked to start using other products due to lack of messaging within Square Teams.

@nsilvialafrance, messaging has been added on the Team App.

@Stanley I do not have this capability, even when signed in as owner. Do you have any insight as to how to enable it, or if it is a Beta feature?

@nsilvialafrance  Don't think it's a Beta feature. Maybe try updating or deleting and reinstalling the app.  I have a message icon on the bottom of the screen on the app. (see screen shot)  Haven't used it yet as staff is still migrating from Homebase to the team app.  I suppose I should test it and see if it actually works...Messaging.PNG

@nsilvialafrance I do have Square for Restaurants Plus which includes Team Plus.  Messaging might be a part of the "Plus"...

@Stanley Very much appreciate this. Some staff reported seeing a messages tab but I thought they were confused with Dashbaord app. I do not have this even after reinstalling and testing on Android instead of my iPhone, very interesting. 

I entered a chat with Square and they seemed to have no clue about it and thought it could be for messaging customers, but we do that in Square Dashboard app now.

 

I also have Restaurant Plus and Teams Plus.

I am curious if you end up being able to test it if you find it functional or not, thanks again.

@nsilvialafrance I just tested and it works.  Messaged the entire staff and getting responses from them.
