Square for Restaurants: Recipe/Ingredient Management

Square for Restaurants: Recipe/Ingredient Management

How has square inventory worked for you? I’m thinking about using it but I worry how it will work with items that use the same ingredients. Ex. Multiple dishes that use chicken. Would this work well with inventory management. If not what have you used that works? Thanks!

Re: Feature Request: Bundle items together as a single item, and pull from inventory individually

+1 on this request.

Currently running a retail basic blank apparel store.

I'd like to start selling custom printed T-shirts(both on/offline), while keeping inventory of my blanks.

Hi there! I am wondering if there is a way I'm not seeing to automatically link the inventory of Variation A to the inventory of Variation B if they are from the same Item?

For example:

Item: Biscuits

Variation A: Box of 12 Biscuits  5 in inventory

Variation B: Individual Biscuits   60 in inventory

So, if someone buys a Box of 12 Biscuits, the number of individual biscuits available in inventory would go down by 12. Does that make sense?

We have to be extremely meticulous with adjusting inventories all day with purchases in store, because, if not, our online shop will show inventory we don't have in stock.

So I'm trying to troubleshoot a better way to do this. lol Our volume is too high to keep up with this. lol

Hi @kcfscm2018- Thanks for posting!

This type of inventory bundling is a feature request. But I moved your post here where some sellers discuss some workarounds that have helped them!

Hi @kcfscm2018

You can do this with a paid solution via Trunk @ https://trunkinventory.com

Trunk supports bundling/kitting. You will just need to add Square as a sales channel, make sure you have SKUs on all your Square listings, and then setup your bundles/kits within Trunk. More details on this feature here: http://bit.ly/trunkhelpbundles

...and if you have lots of these, we can also help bulk import them for you! Happy to answer any questions.

Okay,

So I distribute an energy drink. I get them 12 cans to a case right. I sell them to other businesses in cases of 12 cans. THAT is simple. Here is where it gets tricky.

I sell them to consumers at Trade Shows and Events by the can. So I found so far the best solution for me was to take all my cases and count each drink. So if I have 1 case I have 12 of flavor A in stock.

NOW. I do not want to have to keep some inventory in cases and some in single cans that is crazy when it comes to inventory managment. It will mess up the reports I feel like. SO I am curious if I can do this.

Bring them into inventory as a can 1 Case = 12 cans.

But if a business wants a case I can then tell it Flavor A in a case and it auto pulls 12 cans from inventory for that flavor.

Basically

If CASE Sku is selected, Choose FLAVOR, and PULL 12 Cans of FLAVOR out of inventory. that way on the receipt it doesnt show 144 cans to a store. It shows 12 cases.

Or am I just gonna have to keep recounting my single can inventory.

Thanks!

Square Inventory system is not that advanced i'm afraid. You'll need to choose whether to track drinks by the can or case. Sorry about that.

@WorthanAker

I sell beer individually, as 4 packs, 6 packs, 12 packs, 24 packs and at different price points if they're retail, wholesale or out of state. If I produce 10k of 1 beer. That's my inventory. How do I pull 24 out for a 24 pack sold at wholesale rate and deduct this 24 from inventory without having to rectify the count manually? I need like a meta item.

Hi @SaltFireBrewing! Thanks for posting. As you know, having one bulk unit for separate items is still a feature request, but I encourage you to browse through this thread for any other workarounds that other sellers have found. The most recent is one by @axsuul that has an app integration for you. I see other sellers simply sell their items by unit rather than as separate items, so your 6 back of beer would have to be sold in the number of units/liters that it contains. This will be harder as far as calculating which master unit you would want to use vs. calculating that at checkout, but it's something to consider if you don't want to have an app integration.

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Managing inventory of items that appear multiple times on menu

Does anyone know how to connect the inventory to include menu items that are duplicate? For example....we sell Veggie Patties (alone) but we also sell them in a Combo Special that comes with a drink. However when people order the combo special i do not know how to make the inventory subtract the veggie patty. This leads to people ordering veggie patties, even when we are sold out. Please help!

At this time, items cannot share an inventory stock pool. You'll need to add separate stock amounts to the solo veggie patty item and the combo veggie patty item. Sorry  it's not the most suitable solution for managing your inventory. Square's inventory system is a bit basic.

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: Does Square have bulk/bundle inventory management?

I sell boxes of cards with 36 packs per box. Right now I need to create an item for the packs and sell 36 packs in order to have an actual box sale. This is an issue with my square online site. Making a customer add 36 packs is bizarre. However, if I list it as a box and sell a box, I need to make a stock adjustment in the packs count to account for it.

Is it possible to create an item called “box” and have it, when sold, decrement the stock of the “packs” item by 36?
