Square for Laundromat?

Square for Laundromat?

I want to talk about this for a very long time and I want to gather some ideas for you all. I know this may get thrown under the bus but it may be worth it to try to talk about here.

First off, Square is a very good POS system in almost any situation. The only missing thing that it is missing is basically laundromat uses. What do I mean by this?

Well, most of the features in either Square POS/Square Retail don't fit well or some features may not be available in a laundromat environment. I'll go over couple of issues I want to address and maybe have the team of square consider a Square for Laundromat similar to Square for restaurant.

First issue : The receipt

The receipt is fine but its not good in a laundromat use. I've talked about it in here where I explained the receipt issue but in short. The receipt ID is very short because we identify bags of clothes using the receipt ID. My suggestion is maybe have a custom receipt template for the laundromat environments out there. Have the receipt ID big and viewable at a distance.

Another issue with the receipt is that you cannot put customers information on the receipt. This is one of the major flaws I see with the receipt when in a laundromat environment. Our only counter to this was basically using the ticket ID as the phone number but then that still sucks as I have to put the phone number twice anyways.

EDIT : This was also talked about here. Credit to @SStrickland for mentioning this issue already.

Second issue : Orders

Order was a great on the POS system until there are some common annoyances. First off, it requires you to put the following...

Name

Email

Phone

Now this may not seem like an issue but in reality it is. Most of what we need is a phone number and trying to input these in is such a hassle. Sure, I may just put the name on some random name and the email set to mine but it just wants me to use a paper receipt over the POS. My suggestion is that maybe allow us to choose which requirements we need. Say for example we only need a phone number or name?

I think that's probably the main issues here but I have also some minor issues that could also be addressed.

First minor issue : Having the option to Pay/Pay Later.

Usually, when customers drop off clothes for us to clean and fold we give them the option if they want to pay or pay later. If only there was some indicator that this customer chose to pay later on the receipt but I found modifiers to be the workaround.

Second minor issue : Interface menu

I feel like this is like a nitpick but maybe make the interface work around in a laundromat environment like ones in the Square for restaurant. Maybe have a Display system to track which clothes are off for delivery and maybe a driver interface? Sorry if it feels like I'm asking much but I want to gather some ideas for some potential.

I think that's all I want to talk about. I hope you take the time to read this and hopefully agree with me on some of the stuff I mentioned. I just felt like over the past 3 weeks the Square POS feels like a hindrance and we only rarely use it on occasions because of these issues. We just ended up going back to our traditional way of doing things rather than using the POS.

Finally! I am not the only one having difficulties with this. I would love to see an order tracking system. From start to finish. Especially for LAUNDROMATS! Have you found a system that works?
