Simple Report that Shows Customer Name, Amount Spent, What they Purchased, When they purchased it

Please Please PLEASE upgrade the reporting to be able to provide analytics on VERY basic customer information. I was literally flabbergasted when I was recently told by several different CS representatives that it was not possible to run a report that would show the purchaser name, amount purchased, what they purchased when. This is insane that this does not exisit.

Otherwise, I am very happy with what Square has been able to do to help my small business grow- but this feature needs to be added.

My friend cancelled her business with 6 locations due to Square not having this feature.

Thank you please allow us to easily run this report!

Hi @SkinGuruSpa.  I’m sure a Square rep will reply soon.  But I wanted to ask a few questions and possibly give you some pretty easy workarounds, for the short term.  You don’t say exactly what you are trying to accomplish with this report.  So apologies in advance if something I say here is useless to you.  I’m throwing spaghetti at the wall hoping something sticks! LOL

If all you need is to look at one (or a few) customers purchase history with your store, you can bring up their customer record in the Customer Directory.  Scroll down until you see an “Activity” section.  This will give you every action taken by/for that customer — sales, loyalty transactions, etc.

If, however, you need all customer activity over a certain period of time, grouped by customer, it’s pretty simple to download a CSV or two to a spreadsheet and create your own ad-how report.  If all you need for the customer is their name (and not email or phone, etc) then one of the Transactions CSV has everything you’d need.  If you need more customer details besides name, you’d also need the Customers CSV to link to the Transactions CSV.

Keep in mind that all I’m doing here is giving you some ideas for obtaining the information you want while you wait for a reply/decision from Square.  Even if they do decide to create this report, that only begins the process, which can take a while.  If something I’ve suggested works for you, and you need more specific instructions/help in making it happen, let me know.  For sure, I’m pretty darned good with spreadsheet reporting!

Hey @SkinGuruSpa ! Thank you so much for submitting this Feature Request! I've updated it to the "Open" status. This step in the Feature Request process will be a time in which other sellers can add their use cases to your idea to make it stronger and demonstrate further how much it is needed. Later on, we'll re-visit the most popular feature requests in the "Open for Votes" status and bring them to product teams.
To other sellers that see this feature, please “like” the post and reply with a use case that your business would have. This will help to signal that this feature request is even more important to address.

@TheRealChipA

thank you so much!!!! I’m terrible at this stuff. What I’m trying to run is a report that would tell me the following over a monthly period:

customer name

date of appt(s)

services purchased

service amount total

items purchased

item amount total

any advice is appreciated!
