Service coupons codes and packages

Service coupons codes and packages

Hey,

I am currently on the free trial plan and considering switching from acuity to square appointments. We use coupon codes for promotional discounts and also packages and need this function. Can square appointments do this?

At this time these are considered Feature Requests on Square Appointments @fayesmithmakeup I will make sure to pass your request over to our product team for their visibility and consideration when working on future updates.

Strong vote in favour of this. Hard to believe that Square has the ability to handle gift-cards and coupons for online Item sales, (good!) but these important marketing tools cannot be used when booking/paying for Appointment services bookings.

My use case is simple: Use coupons as part of my marketing efforts, same as an Item vendor would. Square (correctly) promotes the value of using coupons, but apparently this only applies to vendors of Items, not service providers that book appointments. Similarly for Gift Cards: If a customer can only redeem a gift card, or coupon, in person in the store, this greatly reduces the utility of these tools for service providers for whom advance appointment booking is critical.

I only sell service time (Escape Room) but as a test created a temporary Item in the Item Library. I determined that the checkout process (here I am describing the customer-facing self-checkout from the Online Store created by Square) for items is totally different than the checkout process for Appointment Service time. When checking out for Services  Appointment bookings, there is nowhere to enter Gift Card or Coupon Code. Worse: if the customer uses the special coupon URL which contains the embedded coupon code, the Online Store indicates the "coupon has been applied" but when they checkout (for an Appointment Service booking which requires pre-payment) there is no coupon discount applied.

I am honestly surprised and disappointed by the Item/Service dichotomy in the Online Store. Gift Cards and Coupon Codes must be made available to Service providers if Square is serious about this type of small business.

(Sorry for the rant, this was a frustrating discovery).
