Receive an alert when an employee is approaching overtime

Hey everyone! I just submitted a new feature request for an alert that would pop up (ideally via email, the Square dashboard, and the Dashboard App) when an employee is approaching overtime. If this would be helpful for anyone, please go ahead and add a comment or a like!

Also, if this is already a feature that I'm missing, please feel free to let me know! After some research in the forums, all I could find was this setting (pointed out by @TheRealChipA) that tells you when an employee already has gone into overtime. In my experience, this isn't actually very helpful, because you have to check each team members alerts, which is super cumbersome (plus, it's already too late once the overtime has happened!).

Thanks, everyone!

It would be incredibly helpful if there was the option to receive an alert when an employee is approaching overtime (maybe when they have 2-5 hours until entering overtime, or something).

While we never schedule employees to surpass 40 hours, it happens if an event runs long or a team member ends up covering for a sick co-worker, etc. Currently, we're tracking this by adding up hours in "Workday" but it's pretty cumbersome.

I imagine this could be similar to the notification received when an employee submits a time off request, where the alert is sent via email, in the Dashboard website, and through the Dashboard App.

Adding my upvote.  If I may add a further suggestion to make this “alert” more helpful….

Why not go all the way with this?  After an employee clocks out, Square could add their current hours worked to the hours they are scheduled for the rest of the week.  If that resulting total is either >40 hours of within a comfort threshold that WE specify (1-5 hours), then we receive the alert.  That way, if someone is close but not scheduled for the rest of the week, we wouldn’t get a needless alert.

Regardless, it’s a great feature.

@TheRealChipA Excellent addition/clarification. How you explained it working is exactly what I had in mind. This would be SO helpful!

Status changed to: Open

Hey there, @mksavage.

I've changed the status of this feature request to "Open" and merged the previous thread so our Product team can see @TheRealChipA's vote. You both have provided a great assessment of the potential business use/need for something like this on our platform from a seller's perspective. This is a useful tool for our Product Team to use as they build the future of our products

As more information becomes available, a Community moderator will come in and change the status letting all of the subscribed sellers know.

We appreciate your patience,

Thank you for the update and consideration @RobynR ! Super appreciate it!

I would really like this feature as well. I have an employee who consistently gets just over 40 hours a week, despite being scheduled for 38. I don't want to have to check his clock-in and clock-out times in real time every day, so an alert would be very handy.
