How do I set up the online checkout to accept Digital items and Shipping items on the same checkout?

I have several items on my store.  Some are digital others are physical items  When the customers selects a digital item and selects a physical, and then they look at their cart,  there is an "error" message at the top of the screen that basically says.  "items in your cart have different fulfillment methods, you must purchase them separately.      How do we allow both types so the customer doesn't have to do multiple transactions?

There isn't a way right now to do this unless you change all your non-physical items to physical or vice versa. I'm merging your post into a feature request thread about this so you can get updated if we do support checking out with both in a single cart.

I've created a site for a special event at our church. We want to sell food items plus add an optional donation section. While I was able to do that, it won't allow me to put food in the cart and a donation in the same cart, saying that "The items in your cart have different available fulfillment methods (pickup, digital delivery). You must purchase these items separately."

There hasn't been an  update to the current thread in over 4 months - is there a workaround?

We are having the same issue did you ever find a solution?

Is it possible to have multiple "delivery" options on one invoice - so we have a online spirit wear shop set for customer to pick up their items from the school. We also have a section to make a monetary donation. But if you try and checkout with both a donation and a spirit wear item in your cart, it tells me I have to do them as individual transactions. Is there a way to just have customer pay for both at once?

This would be considered a feature request at this time, @RGSPTO.

 

Currently, donation-type items are associated with a different fulfillment type than delivery or pickup items, so your customers won't be able to make payments for both items in one transaction. I've moved your post to this thread, where we'll be sure to post an update if we have news to share in the future. I'd like to echo what most others are saying in this forum. The inability to allow our customers to make a physical purchase and add a donation to our nonprofit is really too bad. It is much less likely that they will go back through to make a second transaction just to add a donation. 😞 Could you just remove the fulfillment status from the donation feature all together?

Could you give me some more detail on what you're looking for, so I can escalate it over to our Product Team? 

 

Are you looking for a customer to add a custom amount for the donation? Or allowing their total to be rounded up?

Has there been any update on this? I'd like customers to be able to do one transaction that has donations and physical items in the same order online and in person.  Right now they have to do two transactions which stops people from donating (I have donations set up but they can't be in the same cart to checkout).  Ideally there would also be a "would you like to add a donation" option on the checkout screen that allows roundup or selection of an amount.   The most pressing is just being able to have the donations and items in the same cart. Thanks!

I see how frustrating this would be @EightLeggedOcto! We don't have an update at the moment, but continue to advocate for this suggestion - I can agree that this would be a useful feature to have. We'll let you know about any updates in this thread. 

I am also interested in hearing how this is coming along. We're having similar problems with our customers having to make separate transactions for memberships versus physical items.
