@Seth20901 I will give you the honest advice I wish someone had given me in 2012 when I signed up for square. You can't!
Square wants to force you to buy add-ons and other 3rd party apps to give you the ability for a simple negative modifier.
Square is a starting point that benefits many users who have no other bankable way to collect credit card income. It is what it is. A starting point. You can upgrade to other suppliers later or learn how to manipulate to program so it works for you.
@Seth20901 I recommend you search the sellers community for work-a-rounds and how to add three different prices all with the same name under different modifiers. It's extremely convoluted but then most of Square basic features are.
@Seth20901 The final example I have is to make three separate items.
Small Coffee $2.99
Medium Coffee $3.99
Large Coffee #4.99
This works best with the reports as square also separates the sales by items vs modifiers and splits that information in six different convoluted directions so it is virtually impossible to track inventory. Again they would be happy to sell you a third party app that allows this simple function but all they care about is how much money they can get from you.
Use the program to get started - upgrade to a user friendly provider when you get some experience with your business. It is what it is -- good luck.
Really need a way to add negative values for modifiers!
In our business (specialty coffee drinks), we asses a .23 charge for sauce-based flavors added to drinks and a .23 charge for syrup-based flavors (.46 for sauce AND syrup), but within that, the customer may select multiple sauces and/or multiple syrups while only incurring a single charge for each category.
Without the ability to set a single charge for multiple modifier selections, the easiest way around that would be to raise our base prices by .46 and have a "no sauce -.23" modifier in the "sauces" list, and "no syrup -.23" modifier in the "syrups" list and make each list have at least 1 required selection. This is how we handle it through the UberEats platform and doesn't seem like it would be a terribly complicated addition to Square... I mean, if I put in "($0.23)" as the modifier price, square already DOES recognize that it is a negative value and gives an error, so half of the work is already done!
I have added you post to a thread where other sellers have made a similar Feature Request.
Right now, adding a negative modifier isn't possible. Once we have more information for our Product Team about this - one of the Community Moderators will post a Product Update.
What you're asking isn't exactly available, but there is a workaround.
Adjust your time range of availability, then have your service lengths be the timeslots sizes you prefer. Next, you'll change the schedule time in your Appointment Settings to what you'd like according to your service duration.
Example: If the service is 30 minutes, then your customers would see appointments every 30 mins.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
I would like to create a negative modifier to be able to take items off a set charge... specifically for restaurant.... like a deli sandwich with no meat... if i could take off the meat charge i would come up with the price of a sandwich with no meat without having to create a whole new button because it's not a common request. Or more common would be ordering an espresso with half the espresso shots. so taking the charge for the full amount of shots off would be extremely helpful
