Feauture request for Payroll: Multiple direct deposit accounts

Feauture request for Payroll: Multiple direct deposit accounts

In all payroll services I've worked with before, it is quite easy to set up multiple direct deposit accounts per employee. I don't see this in Square Payroll. Is there something I'm missing? Specifically, I would like to be able to deposit a fixed amount to one account, and the remaining amount to another (a very common thing...).

Re: Payroll direct deposit

At this time an employee can only link one bank account to Payroll. I'll share your interest in linking multiple bank accounts with the Product Team

Employees can add either a checking or a savings account to Payroll. Before adding a savings account your employee may want to call their bank to check that there aren't any restrictions on their savings account, i.e. they should make sure it can be set up to receive a direct deposit.

Also keep in mind online-only accounts are not supported.

I am in support of the options for the abilty to split payroll to various banks for my employees. Please consider this strongly.

Hi, team at Square, here is why this feature is handy for employees:

The ability to send a % or a fixed amount of money from the paycheck automatically to a separate bank account is extremely handy to help people save and invest money in an automated way.

It's based on a principle of Atomic Habits, and also mentioned in books like Ramit Sethi's book or the Automatic Millionaire: if you don't even see the money come into your main bank account, psychologically, it's easier to stay on the course rather than having to manually save or investing the money.

If all the money goes into one account, you might forget to invest it or just overspend the money. This feature helps people automate an important aspect of personal finance.

To reply to this thread and request the split deposit feature;  We have several employees requesting this.  Many people have more than one checking account with different banks.  Some want to split as they have loans at different banks and have percentage discounts if each account has a Direct Deposit.  Others have accounts for paying bill and another for fun money.

Even though this is a royal PITA, I have been switching banks for employees once a month so that they are not penalized for having no direct deposit during any month.  This is a simple request and other payroll services offer this feature and have done so for decades.

Please implement this feature!  Thank you.

I am astonished SQ still is not offering this basic feature. Of course I should be able to split direct deposits for employees. WTF Square? This cannot be a hard feature to implement. Why is it still lacking 4 years later?

Please make this a feature, about half of my employees want to split their payroll direct deposit.

PLEASE! Product Team, this is a feature that is missing from your offering and most payroll providers have it. As a payments company this should be something you offer. It helps people a lot with automating their investing and saving. Thank you

I would like to see this as well. Has Square even started development for this?

Welcome @PQuenga

Congrats on your first post in the Community.

Appreciate you taking the time to check in on this Feature Request.

I don't have any new information regarding where this is at the process for our Product Team. Once more information becomes available, one of the Community Moderators will post a Product Update with all of the details.

Thank you!

This thread and requests for multiple bank accounts has been 4 years in the asking. Clearly Square doesn't care, or read anything from their consumers. What a simple thing to lose business over.
