Hi,

 

We quickly built a Square/Weebly Online Store this week so that people could place contactless/curbside orders for our gelato shop. It's working great and I love that the tickets print out when it's time to make the order.

 

We are also implementing a local delivery service where people can preorder with us and we'll deliver it on Friday night. Right now we're doing it by email to take their item order and we respond back with a Square Invoice to capture payment. Has anyone successfully found a way to do local delivery with the Online Store platform?

 

It would be awesome if besides Pickup or Shipping, merchants could toggle on a Local Delivery button and the merchant could set a few options, such as "Delivery on Friday night, 4-7pm," "Delivery on Saturday afternoon, 12-6pm." Maybe with an option to assign a fee, but that's less important during this emergency response.

We are currently testing Batch Processing in our Beta Community, which may help you out. This is another update to allowing pre-orders on your online store.  We'd love for you to join in the test and provide feedback.

We are a made to order food business. 

 

We take orders between Wednesday and Saturday, cook on a Sunday and deliver the following Tuesday. We also make available to pickup on a Tuesday from a local farmers market. 

 

Our best workaround right now is to set our store location as the farmers market, and our hours to the time the market is open. We then have prep time as an hour so we can deliver after the market closes. So our store shows as closed all week except for a single hour when the market is on. This breaks the delivery by distance feature but we can work with selecting individual postcodes we can deliver to. A bit clunky but should work just fine. 

I get responses from restaurants, bakeries, breweries, and app developers on my requested for preorder option within on line store.  None help me as a retail e-commerce seller trying to utilize Square’s online store.  Square’s responsive is to bury my request in a mumbled of discussions that have nothing to do with my request.

 

To the App Developers-no I am not interested in paying for an app for a feature that should be basic on an e-commerce solution.  Your app plus Squares monthly fee is more than I would pay if I move to another platform.

 

Square-actually read and address the request.  If you are not going to address, tell us so we can find another solution.

I need to set up our store for items to picked on one day only, Feb. 11th, from 3-4 pm. How do I do that?

I am in desperate need of this option as well. My customers are constantly getting incorrect notifications because the "prep time" is not an option that works properly for me.  I offer preorder early in the week for pick up on specific dates and this is driving us crazy!!  Please, please develop a calendar where customers can choose specific dates (that we set up outside of our regular hours) that can be item specific!!!!!

It is super annoying, but if you change your products to "services" rather than "physical" it disables the "prep time" function. Then you can write your own pick up day specification in your email to customers, or write it in as a description with the product itself. 
We have events sales only on specific days and we have also set up a pop up that tells customers when our pick up is as they enter the site. 
To switch to "service" you will need to switch it on the item list on your online store. You will see after switching it that it now will glitch and not let you show your new item as "visible" on your store. You will now have to open separate page or navigate back to your 'items' on your dashboard (not online). On the item you have changed tap the space bar and that with let you resave your item as a service and fix the glitch. Now Navigate back to online store item. You will now be able to set stock and mark as visible without the prep time issue. 
i know this is a little confusing. Basically the online store doesn't allow for switching an item from physical to service without resaving it offline. 
if you set up a new item as a service straight away then this step is unnecessary.

Sorry - no answer here - we have the same problem.  We cook BBQ and allow customers to order online in advance (so we'll know how much to cook).  We only see once a month, so we like to open up the on-line ordering early.  But with current pick-up solution, there's no way to specify a specific date and time to pick up their order.  We have updated the email and website to state the pick-up info, but it's still confusing when the customer checks out since the pick-up info is automatically posted (since the product is tagged for pick-up only).  Amazing that this simple request isn't supported yet.

Hi there!  I am attempting to set pick up and delivery dates and times for one item that is only available on one specific date.  I need my hours for pick up/delivery on my general goods to stay the same, but offer seasonal items on one specific date. (think thanksgiving pie can be ordered weeks in advance but can only be picked up the day before, while still needing to offer pickup/delivery on my usual baked goods during my usual times)  I have applied modifiers for this but my customers are confused when it tells them to pick up the next day, when they selected the pick up modifier for a few weeks from now, when the item will actually be available.  

Any tips?
