Feature Request: Pause orders via my Square Online website using the Square Point of Sale app

The title of this post has been edited from the original: I'm getting orders in my online store after changing hours to closed.

 

I often have to temporarily close my food cart or change hours.  For now, I am doing this through: Settings > Pickup & Delivery > Hours.   However, I am still receiving orders after changing my hours to "closed" (my poor customers are actually coming to visit my cart and finding out that the cart is closed.  Which does not look good on us at all.....)

 

Is there a better way to change hours for the day?

 

Temporary closure function would be very helpful.

Hi there, @greenecanteen - so sorry for the confusion here. I am referring to the Online Dashboard. Here are the direct steps:

 

1. Log into the Square Dashboard

2. Go to Online Store (this took me to weebly)

3. Click "Settings", then "Checkout". 

4. Toggle switch at top of that page that says "Accept online orders"

The Weebly version of Square online has a single setting on Checkout to "Accept online orders". The turns order on and off for ALL locations in our account. My organization has multiple online stores for different purposes, which are organized by Location.  I recall the version of Square online before Weebly allowed the administrator to control accepting orders by Location. 

 

The Weebly version means the online store is either Open for all locations, or closed for all Locations? 

 

Can Square provide a way to open and close the online story PER LOCATION.

I’m confused why you would give someone free food if you don’t have an order in your order manager or an emailed copy of their order or a record of a purchase under the transactions tab. If there’s no record than there’s no order. 

Sometimes trying to check out will just get people back to the cart or store page without giving them any confirmation. It’s a bug for sure, but generally customers need a fair amount of handholding. 

 

I do wish the order manager had a toggle to turn off the online store quickly. It’s a obvious feature that’s needed. The square and weebly as different entities needs to go away for a much more seamless experience. It’s called square online, not weebly online, after all. 

Kunu - Hiding the shopping cart icon on our Square online store did not prevent people from checking out if the store is open. Ture the cart disappears, but after adding an item to the cart, it gives the user the option to checkout. 

 

Since the conversion to Weebly in 2019, Square has ONE Checkout setting for "Accepting new orders" button instead of open/closed for each Location's online store. I was hoping that hiding the shopping cart icon would provide that capability again, but it does not.

Welcome back to the Community. 

 

What type of orders do you wish to not accept after closing - pickup or delivery? Check out the option to change your operating hours on your Online Store, so those types of orders cannot be taken outside of the window you set. 

 

Go to your Online Store > Pickup & Delivery > Edit Location. 

 

It will give you the option to have pickup & delivery set the same hours or different ones. The choice is yours.

Well aware of the Pickup and Deliver settings by location. I amlooking for a "daily limit" to prevent orders from being made on future dates when the limit is reached. Our charitable fish fry is only open 1 Friday a week for 7 weeks. Once all the order limits have been met for a night, Square pushed soonest and future orders into the next open date. We want to stop accepting order once the order limits have all been reached. I changed the location's open dates to exclude all Fridays for the month of March, but Square just pushed orders to April 2. The only way I have found to stop scheduling future date pickup is to either 1) Stop Accepting Orders (which causes problems for people in the process of checking out) or 2) increase the Order Limit and open more time slots before the order limit is reached.

Ah I see! There is an option to do so a little deeper into the Settings on the Online Store. 

 

Go to Online Store > Settings > Pickup & Delivery > Edit Location > Order Timing Settings (Edit) > Order limiting

 

Hi,

Is there a way to disable the online store ordering when we get to many orders for our restaurant and have to turn it off. We have to go online into our dashboard and turn it off through the fulfillment toggle.

Is there not a way to turn it off within the App or from the Restaurant POS Kiosk? This is very cumbersome when its busy and have to get your phone out and fumble through everything?

There isn't a setting in-app that would allow you to stop accepting orders via your Square Online website. That would be considered a feature request at this time. In the meantime, you can toggle off Accept online orders via your Online Dashboard under Settings > Checkout:

 

Did this ever get fixed? We really need a toggle in the Square POS to stop online orders or at least change the pick up times. I don’t feel comfortable giving my staff access to Weebly. 

No, I have not heard a thing in months about this. I think thee whole online store needs revamping but this issue is pertinent and we get no response that makes any sense.
