Feature Request: Loyalty membership cards and barcode scanning

Would love if there was an avenue for loyal customers to be given a card with individual barcodes that can be scanned in and their profile and details come up with points accrued and rewards given. Saves on many minutes and duplication of customers...or wrong location of customers to rewards. 

Please consider member cards.

A sporting club - we are also interested in a membership card option. Different levels of membership with varied levels of inclusions. Bar-coded membership card, targeted emails etc. 🙂

Hi Team Square.  Any movement on being maybe able to scan a customers phone number with a barcode reader?  Or cards of course, albeit I understand and see why Square aren't going down the path of cards, with society moving this way, but for us multi purchase venues (especially bars/pubs/club).  It would be awesome if this could become a work around.

While we don't have an update on this at the moment, I'll be sure to highlight this suggestion with the Loyalty team. With QR codes being more and more popular, I could see having customer's loyalty profiles as custom QR codes on their phones could be a more likely scenario than physical cards. We'll keep you in the loop via this thread!

Thanks Arie.  I don't know how that would help I must admit, unless barcode readers can read QR codes.  I use square stand, so cant take a photo.

The issue us bars/club/nightclubs etc have, is that if we have a customer, more often than not they are purchasing 6-12 items in a session, and to either ask for the number each time, or even have to type in the number each time is time consuming.

As I've said above and before, I understand why Square is moving away from cards, I had just hoped that maybe a work around where the barcode scanner can read a custom barcode that contains their phone number so we could cheat the system.  Basically just open up the phone number input to barcode scanner

Really looking forward to a digital membership card that can be saved to phone's wallet. The QR code in the digital card just needed to be scanned in the register to update the customer's loyalty points at checkout.. TIA!

We've just got a square system for our registered club, and we are facing this issue because we have to comply with the Registered clubs act.

Registered clubs (in NSW Aus) require club cards with satisfactory identification elements to comply with registered club regulations for member entry, liquor licensing laws, gaming laws, laws pertaining to the members address/proximity to the club and for general security purposes.

Industry best practice for identification of members remains a combination of:

• Photo identification
• Member specific details (membership number, date of birth, name and address)
• Member signature

This means that we have to issue membership cards to our members as a legal requirement, but we have no way of using those cards with the square loyalty program (whereas with Bepoz we had full integration). We are now facing the prospect of either a) manually migrating member data to square (~5k records, and regularly doing this to account for new members); b) dropping half of our loyalty program which has been established for a number of years; or c) returning the square system and moving to Bepoz.

We have just invested a lot of money by moving completely over to square for our bars, and in our opinion, this is a critical feature. Do you have anything like this in beta? We would be happy to do some beta testing on this at the very least.

Hi All, i am also wanting a digital membership card for a Sports Club. I have just found and set up an app intergration with Pituna which is offering this service, however it only offered gift crads as soon as linking and you have to email thier team to activate tickets, loyalty and memberships. So will see how that goes..

In the mean time, if you could please add my vote for a digital membership platform, that would be fab! 🙂
