Feature Request: Loyalty membership cards and barcode scanning

Feature Request: Loyalty membership cards and barcode scanning

Would love if there was an avenue for loyal customers to be given a card with individual barcodes that can be scanned in and their profile and details come up with points accrued and rewards given. Saves on many minutes and duplication of customers...or wrong location of customers to rewards.

Please consider member cards.

Hey @mazy,

Thanks getting in touch and providing us with this feedback!

At the moment Square Loyalty is SMS based, check it out if you've not already, it may be useful in some capacity for your business 👍

I can see that scanning barcodes and having membership cards would be handy as well in different situations - while I'm not aware of these features currently being in the pipeline for Square Loyalty at the moment, I am happy to pass your feedback on to that team as a feature request 🙂

I know I’ve posted elsewhere, but the possibility of us doing cards ourselves, where you can scan a barcode with their phone number may hopefully become a work around!

Hey @ChickenRacer,

In the interest of transparency this is not one I've heard any further info about since your original comment a while back - though I'm still with you on this being a handy possible feature, especially in a loud pub environment! I'll pass your comments on again, it's not a request I hear a lot of frequently, but it's worth bringing up again when we do!

Hope you're doing well!

I have a small Bar/Night Club. Wondering if any news of a Membership Discount/ Loyalty card so the Customer can swipe to get member discount and accrue points for spending. Asking for customer details over the bar every transaction is not an option due to noise and time. Needs to be Barcode, RFID or Magnetic Strip like a Tap n Go Credit Card. Could even use same card as Gift Card so customer can load credit for the night and not use cash.

Hey @DiamondDog,

I've moved your post to this thread as way of keeping track of all the feedback we receive for this feature in the one place. If we expand upon the features here I'll update this thread, in the meantime the more feedback we can gather the better case we can make for this feature!

Hi Seamus

thanks for checking in

when typing in the number, does it have to be a valid or full mobile number, that is I’m thinking maybe I could have three or four number “membership” numbers, on a card, so it’s not so long to type in

thanks

Hey @ChickenRacer,

Good to hear from you!

It would need to be a full Australian mobile phone number, due to the fact that the system is designed to provide your customers updates and to track their loyalty points via SMS.

My guess is that the system won't allow you to enter a non valid mobile number, however even if it did, this would prevent customer from being able to track their loyalty points.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help here! I know this is one you've wanted to see changes to for a while - I don't have any updates, however will continue to share your feedback with the Loyalty team.

All the best!

I’m looking for a way we can have a loyalty card with Square that identifies a customers name etc when they swipe so we don’t need to keep asking their details or surname each time.

Hey again @Steak-Out,

I've moved your post to this feature tracking thread!

Loyalty cards have been a popular request, though to be honest I've not heard of any movement on this request since the original thread was posted.

The currently Loyalty system is designed from the ground up specifically to be a cardless system, and while having a traditional card-based system is a popular request, it's not quite in line with how Loyalty has been designed.

With that said, never say never. I'll continue collating feedback here and passing it onto our team!

Thanks Seamus. I understand how it is built for security and an interface side of things but from a consumer and business stand point it is frustrating as people like being identified by name and that takes time. The card simplifies this
