Feature Request - Customisable checkout fields for Square Online

Now I have another feature request - I've had a play and I don't think this is in there, either.

When submitting an enquiry, I'd like one of the question options to be "add products", so people can submit a request against my accurate product line.

If you add either of these features to the online store, could I please request that there's an option for the online order/enquiry to feed directly into the backend "Invoices" section? That's the vital link I need - a link between online and invoicing, so I can follow things up properly.

I'm trying to solve my own issue where I simply don't invoice in a timely manner! I need the requestor to select all the items they need and get that order to me, either paid or unpaid. If unpaid, it needs to be turned into an invoice, automatically emailed to them, and automatically added to the existing invoicing system so I can easily chase them up etc.

I basically need an ordering system. Payment is almost of secondary importance; what's important is that the requestor can accurately select the products they need and get that order to me, without relying on me to manually do ANYthing except fulfil the order.

In order to properly track feedback on feature requests we ask that you create a new thread for a new feature request - putting new feature requests in an existing thread for another feature request makes it difficult for us to track feedback and for other users to find the right place to add their voice!

I've gone ahead and moved your post to its own new thread and edited the title 👍

We can track seller feedback for this request here moving forward, and I'll update the thread if I hear any news of us adding customisable fields to the checkout process.

With that said, it sounds like the extent of these requests taken as a collective lot may necessitate your using a different platform to get things working in the way you'd ideally like them to. Or even a custom built website that integrates the sort of functionality you're looking for that combines the ability for customers to essentially send purchase orders, combined with an online store type function as well if they wish to pay on the spot. I can't think of any off the shelf solutions for products such as this, however that's not to say they don't exist!

At the moment I'd say it's probably unlikely that we'd introduce linking between Square Online and Invoices - this is the first I've ever heard it requested, it's not a common use case for most of our sellers. As far as I know we're not working on a system that would allow for orders to be placed without payment. Your use case here totally makes sense for how you're describing the way you want to run your business - however it's not quite the sort of system that Square has traditionally covered, so I don't want to get your hopes up here!

Hmm. Phooey. I'm using Ecwid for the retail store - it does have a "pay by cash on pickup" or "direct deposit" plugin, I think, but separating the wholesale and retail products, while not impossible, is a bit painful. I was hoping to use Square for one and Ecwid for the other, which reduces the risk of someone getting access to the wrong link.
