Feature Request: Clear purchase activity of a Physical Gift Card so it may be reused.

Hello! We sell gift cards quite frequently and I'm unable to re-use them because the history is too detailed. If someone checks their balance on a gift card they've received, it says the date the person has purchased it, if it was ever reloaded, etc. This is WAYY too much information for the recipient.

 

Reasons being, if buyer is late buying gift, recipient will see exact date purchased. If I reuse a card, recipient will see it was loaded, cashed out, unloaded, loaded again, etc. multiple times.

 

I see that it was a feature added but this should be on the back end, where only the seller (business) has access to. Not the recipient trying to check their balance.

 

Plus, I worry about the gift card being reused + the receipt being sent to the original buyer.

 

All in all this is really a technical issue that's preventing me from re-issuing a gift card. I'm not sure if its intended as you would like businesses to continue to purchase NEW ones? Either way please, please look into this. 

 

Holiday shopping is coming and I'd love for it to be resolved.

 

Q Summary: Can the history of the gift card be fully CLEARED on the end of the recipient so they won't know when it is purchased etc. but allowing them to still able to check the balance.

This would be considered a feature request at this time.

 

My understanding is that Gift Cards were not meant to be reused and that is the reasoning behind the Gift Card History being visibly available to Buyers. This is not to have you purchase more, but to provide transparency to your customers of how their Gift Card has been used.

 

In regard to Gift Card history getting cleared at this time due to Square being a financial institution we are unable to erase transactional history performed in your account and because of that transactions done through Square are recorded for reporting and business history purposes.

I don’t mean gift card history being cleared in our account. I mean having the gift card history [that’s visible to recipient] hidden when it’s zeroed out so they are able to be reused in our shop. But I’m hearing you say that they’re not meant to be reused. Which is kind of a waste I have 100s of used gift cards just sitting here and then will have to to order new ones. 

 

I definitely think the date of purchase is totally unnecessary for the recipient to see on their end when they check the balance. I don’t know any gift cards that I’ve ever received that have said when the buyer got it for me. Please send this feature request up the chain. Thanks!
