Feature Request: Bottle by the glass inventory

Feature Request: Bottle by the glass inventory

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Bottle by the glass Inventory

For inventory purposes, when I ring up a glass of wine how can I set it up for it to automatically discount a bottle of wine from the inventory?

Re: Feature Request: Bottle by the glass inventory

We're happy to announce a new Square for Retail feature: Sell-by Units and Stock Conversion.

Square for Retail Plus subscribers will now be able to sell an item in different units, and track inventory with those units - for instance, sell candles by a case of 12, by a bundle of 6, or by a single candle.

We are new to square for retail. We sell beverages through our store - my question is how to sell a particular product and keep our inventory counts good. We sell beverage by the single, 6 pack, 12 pack and 30 pack. When we receive our inventory from the vendor it is shipped in 30 packs only and we break the packaging into those mentioned above. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

We have a retail wine store and remove bottles from inventory when we do tastings and sell wine by the glass.  Any suggestions on how to track this?

We've consider a 100% discount to show the move but there has to be a better way.

Thanks

Your inventory doesn't currently have the ability to automatically remove a bottle of wine after a certain number of wine-by-the-glass sales - this is a feature request right now, @VinoSimpatico. I wanted to make sure that your interest in this feature was represented, so I've moved your post to this thread where we are tracking interest. One of our sellers posted an explanation in this thread about how they track their inventory - their suggestions may get you pointed in the right direction here.

Hi @FRR - I found a related thread that they may help get you pointed in the right direction here. This seller shared what they were looking to accomplish, and they seem to have a similar business model to yours. @RHatch provided some tips in response if you want to take a peek!

I've gone ahead and move with your post over to this thread where other sellers have asked about tracking inventory when selling an item in packs, as well as individually. Although this feature isn't currently available, we're tracking interest here - stay subscribed to be notified of updates.

The title of this thread has been edited from [Need parent/child items] to better reflect its content.

I sell boxes of magic cards, within those boxes are 36 packs of magic cards. I need to be able to just enter in the quantity of magic card boxes I have on inventory and when I sell a pack it uses 1/36th of that box. Right now every time I open a new box to sell the packs I have to do an inventory recount to reduce the number of boxes by 1 and recount on the packs and increase them by 36.

Every other point of sale system that I have looked at other than Square has this functionality.

Hi there, @worldtree 👋 Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Seller Community. Good to hear from you!

Square does offer real-time inventory tracking available on both Point of Sale, and integrated with Square Online Store. Which option are you using when selling your Magic cards?

It's important to note that for each item, the inventory tracking option needs to be toggled on in order to actively deplete stock when items are sold.

Let me know if that helps! I want to make sure this gets solved for you.

Please change the title of the thread back to what it was because the current title does not reflect the problem at all. Tracking is enabled, but when I sell an individual pack of magic cards it does not deduct from a box of magic cards. The video in the article linked does not address the problem I have mentioned.

Would you mind clarifying more then, @worldtree? I edited the title based on the content of your question. Specifically, my question from above concerning which platform you are using - Online Store or POS.

The more context and detail you provide, the more of a tailored answer we can provide.

I sell a box and I sell packs. A pack is 1/36th of a box. When I scan the UPC of a pack it needs to deduct 1/36th of a box. If I scan 6 packs it needs to deduct 6/36th. If I scan a box UPC I need it to deduct 1 box from inventory.

Right now if I receive 6 boxes I enter 5 as boxes and 1 as 36 packs. If I sell out of packs I have to inventory recount boxes -1 and inventory recount packs +36.

Ah, I see what you're trying to do.Thanks for going in detail.

Currently there's not a way enter inventory by the box but track by the pack. You'll need to add items as packs to accurately track inventory.
