Australia - mobile private health claim option and hicaps support

There is currently no good option of a mobile device in Australia designed to operate as a combined device to manage electronic payments along with process private health insurance rebates automatically!

Hicaps have an offering which is expensive and really limited in function to date.

Tyro also has an option which is more expensive and also limited in function.

This market offering is completely open for the taking ***Squareup***.

Hey @MtbPhysio,

Thanks for the feedback!

This is something I've seen occasionally asked from other businesses in the healthcare industry, however as far as I'm aware we don't currently have any plans to integrate Hicaps into our products.

From a product development sense, Square has traditionally focused on prioritising new features that will serve as many sellers as possible - this probably makes it less likely that industry specific payment platforms such as Hicaps or Cabcharge would be prioritised for development at Square over other features that might be able to serve more sellers/multiple industries.

With that said, we do track demand for new features via our community forum and share this information within the wider company. I couldn't find an existing feature request thread dedicated to Hicaps, so I've moved this post to our Australian community feature request board to better track demand moving forward.

Understandable view point on it but many sellers utilising hicaps will simply never take up the square service because it does not cater to a "behind the times process" better than the current poor system.

If you catered for this then you wont be developing for current clients, you will be growing the pool of clients, often with high turnover of transactions!

So its not a big current client base for square, and will likely never be unless square took the leap to cater for them better than the current options which are behind the times.

Its still an opening in the market yet to be capitilised on in my opinion, it will just be done so someone else. Maybe hicaps themselves will be keeping the vast monopoly on it 🤔
