Allow different flat rates for shipping to different countries per item

Allow different flat rates for shipping to different countries per item

Allow flat rates per single item for  different countries. The price difference between shipping in your own country vs international can be huge and playing a guessing game on what average amount to charge feels clunky and unprofessional.

If shipping is calculated when a customer inputs their address, Square should pull the appropriate flat rate for that country.

Example: Item - Vinyl Sticker

US - $1

Canada - $2

International - $3

Hi @AlishasBackyard  👋

You should be able to make individual rates for separate countries. This article goes over how to set that up. Can you post a link to your website so we can take a look at your current settings?

Sure thing @BernadetteA. Website is alishasbackyardnursery.com. As of now, if I want to add a single item to multiple shipping profiles, it will remove that item from its current profile and add it to the new one. There is also a warning when making shipping profiles that indicates that the current functionality is a single item can only belong to a single shipping profile.

Thanks! Right away I see you have setup a few US rates and they seem to be based on weight. Have you considered using the weight-based rule instead of the flat rate setup? Or will that not work because of the different sized boxes you have?

You can create rules for each country or location, and as long as you use the "default" option you will be able to create additional rules for other countries for the same items. Items can be added only to one set of rules when you use the "custom" option.

How many countries are you wanting to ship to? Or will it just be domestic shipping in the US. Also, which carrier will you be using?

Thank you taking a look @BernadetteA. So I send the statues 1 per box of a designated size depending on which statue is being sent. I originally tried shipping by weight but it did not account for the box sizes like you mentioned since there is such variation in dimensions/cost.

The default setting is for ALL items and I don't see a way to group them (unless I'm missing something). At minimum I would love to ship to Canada, Mexico, and the UK.

I use PirateShip for shipping so the carrier is whatever is cheapest to send to the destination. To give you an example, to send my smallest statues is around $5 in the US but $16 to send to Hawaii or the UK. To send my biggest statues is around $50 in the US and about $120 to Hawaii or the UK.

I would need a way to account for this and selecting Default for a shipping profile doesn't allow for this; all items are $X to ship and that's it.

Hmm.. this is going to be a bit tricky to nail down with the manual shipping settings. You could upgrade your hosting plan to use Real Time Shipping, but honestly, with your different box sizes, it could be just as complicated. 🤔

I'm going to tinker around with settings in my test account for a couple days to see if I can find a good solution for you because I think it could be possible to come up with something.

Do your customers purchase one item at a time on average, or is every order a variety of items?

Also, please feel free to @ me if you do not see a reply from me before the end of the week. I want to make sure I follow up with you on this, and do not want to forget to respond if it gets busy this week. ❤️

I looked into RTS as well but yeah, it's still messy. Thank you so much for looking into this, I know this is rather weird. As of now it's only been single items via email/private invoices for very specific color combinations that aren't listed.

I'm not sure how I missed this, @AlishasBackyard but I just realized this was a feature request on the Ideate board. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm going to move our conversation to a general troubleshooting board for Square Online, but I will leave your original request here since it is a valid feature request. I'll send you a link to the new thread once everything is moved over. 😊

@BernadetteA Lol It's all good, I appreciate the help and investigation regardless!! 😊

Hey @AlishasBackyard @BernadetteA did this feature request ever get actioned/solved? I am having the same issue. I am based in AUS and need to have two separate shipping profiles for a singular item, as INTL shipping is double the cost of domestic. When I go to add a secondary shipping profile to my item, it removes the first one.

Surely this is a super basic/commonly needed feature and I'm a little shocked it can't be done already tbh?

Thanks!
