what happens if I don't dispute a chargeback? Are there penalties?

We have a couple of chargebacks this week from customers who had their cards hacked. I would like to choose the option to not dispute the charge, but I'm concerned it may look like we're admitting we've done something wrong, creating a bad mark on our account.

In these 2 cases the customer wants us to charge the full amount to their new credit card number, but obviously I can't do that if I follow through with disputing the chargeback.

I can't quite tell from the description in this support document

"If you don’t want to challenge the dispute, you can always return the funds from the transaction to your customer. To do this, select “No” on the first question of the form, where we ask you if you’d like to challenge the dispute. Submit the form to us, and we’ll let the bank know you’d like to return the funds to the customer."

It looks like it could be either way, and I really don't want to tarnish our account history by "admitting guilt" when it was really just an issue with the customer canceling their card and their most recent transactions along with it.

Thanks in advance!
