using payroll to pay yourself as self-employed

I was hoping to use the payroll feature to pay myself.  But when I was going through the setup, it will only let me set myself up as an employee with a W2.  It lets me put myself as owner, but it doesn't let me put myself as self-employed (not needing the W-2).  I can't have a W-2 because I am self-employed.  Can I use Square's payroll feature to pay myself if I'm self-employed?

Hey @brookeiseli - I reached out to the Payroll Team to get some insight. I'll be back as soon as I get an update from them. BRB!

@brookeiseli 👋 Update from our Payroll Team --

We currently only support business owners that are also W-2 employees. W-2 employees are subject to withholding taxes, which are taken each pay period, including ones prior to joining Square Payroll. Although a business owner can choose to do an owner’s draw (a draw is not taxed at the company level), this is something that will have to be done outside of Square Payroll, preferably with advice from your tax professional.

I hope we brought some clarity!
