tax rate for food and tax rate for regular goods

I need to set a tax rate at 1% for food items and a tax rate at 8% for non-food items. I do not want to include the tax rate in the price of the product. How is this accomplished.

Once both taxes are created in Dashboard, click the Assign to Items button next to the 1% of the tax rate and select your food items from the list. Do the same for the 8% rate. 

Make sure the settings for both rate are set to Add Tax to Price so there will be a separate line item for the tax total in the transaction details.
