is there a way to look at item sales by hour?

Are there any plans for detailed hourly sales?  It would be helpful to see if an item has a particular hour it sells best at; speaking from a cafe point of view. We're a bakery and cafe, we offer a very diverse product base, if I'm selling out of an item by a certain time, knowing that could help me better prepare for when I could potentially sell/produce more of that item.  I'd like to see more info than just daily sales.

There are 2 ways to do this.

(1)_____

In the dashboard, go to reports, then click items.

There's a graph at the top that will show you sales by hour, but also color codes the items sold. Depending on how you set up your items, say different items vs items with variables and modifiers, this may not give you the exact answer your looking for.  Won't tell you blue vs green (modifiers), but will tell you Shirt vs Pants.

You can set the date or date range.

You can set a specific time frame for a specific date.

You can play around with the display by and filter by options, too.

(2)_____

If you need more than a glance look, like a list of actual items, you'll want to do this from the transactions page. It will take a bit of doing.

From transactions, you can also filter by date or date range, specific time periods, and a few other things.

The hidden gem that isn't obvious, is the dropdown list that says Card #. This has other filters for Item, Note (anything typed in the note field), and some other things.

You could select item and then in the text field type the item you want to search for. The nice thing is, it doesn't have to be exact. Say you have several items with chain in the name: gold chain, silver chain etc.  You can search the specific name which will show only "gold chains" sold, or you could search chain and it will include any item with the name chain and show you all.

If you set a time frame, it will only show you how many of that item is sold during that time for whatever date or date range you select.

Unfortunately, this means you would have to search each item individually and by each time frame you want to know, for each date(s).

I even tried creating a custom report that might show a bit more, or list view, but there is no option to display or filter by time. Interesting thought, maybe Square should look into this.

And maybe Square should change the dropdown list under card # to "Other Filters" or something. It honestly took me a while to notice it was there. At first glance it looks like it's just an option to search by card number.

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
