I am assuming that the Square appointment app is non-HIPAA compliant. Is this true?
@Jacks Great question! Our security policies are designed to protect both you and your customers. As noted in our Support Center, if you’re subject to HIPAA as a Covered Entity or Business Associate (as defined in HIPAA) and use the Services in a manner that causes Square to create, receive, maintain, or transmit Protected Health Information (PHI) on your behalf, then you agree to the HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (“HIPAA BAA”).
Square sellers are responsible for determining whether they are subject to HIPAA requirements and whether they intend to use the Services in connection with PHI. You can always learn more by visiting Square’s HIPAA Business Associate Agreement.
Please let me know if you have additional questions. I’m more than happy to help!
I am a registered psychotherapist and am wondering if square appointments is Phipa Compliant?
Hey!! Thanks for asking. I merged your post with another that is similar to yours, though it asks about HIPAA compliance rather than Phipa. However; the answer will remain the same as what Nika states above, that while we are not specifically HIPPA (or Phipa) compliant, then you should sign the agreement above and also work to make sure all possible HIPAA settings are made. We also have a Medical MCC that you will need to have us update your account to. You can email in or call in for that to happen, for it will disable automatic receipts from being sent from your account in an effort to protect client information.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!!
