Would not having the security screw make the ipad go black and not work?

We have the stand but don't have the security screw that holds the ipad in, would not having the screw make the ipad not work correctly? Also we never shut the ipad off at night would that make it wear out after 3 years of use.  It keeps going black or could the stand need to be replaced?

We had an issue with our register where the iPad would repeatedly connect and disconnect from the register. That was with the screw as per normal. What we did was to clean the connector on the register and adjust the screw a bit. I can see where not having the screw may cause the iPad to be a bit misaligned with the connector and that could potentially cause your problem.

When is the iPad going dark? Are you able to wake it back up, or do you have to reboot?
