I just noticed while trying to get our menu categories to print to the correct printer that they are not identified on the network the same.
For example I have a kitchen printer which is a Star SP 700 (ethernet).
On one Ipad it is identified as WiFi Printer 6 on another Ipad it is identified as WiFi Printer 7.
This makes setting up each Ipad a real chore when you have 7 or 8 printers.
I can kind of understand why this happens and is probably due to not having all printers on when I first set up the app on each ipad but is there a way to corret this?
We don't actually have any WiFi printers but they are all identified as such which I can deal with but seems wrong.
Hey @Elks409 👋🏼
Since ethernet printers are connected through your internet router, it is actually communicating with your iPad over WiFi so in a sense they are WiFi printers. 🙂
When creating a printer station within your POS app, the printer should show up as the model of the printer (i.e. "Star [Model #]"). After you select a printer, you're able to set a nickname for that printer so you can more easily distinguish between them if you have multiple printers. It sounds like maybe it was mis-numbered during this step in the process. You can always update the name of the printer within your app settings (Settings > Printers > select printer you want to edit > update Name section).
Hopefully that resolves the issue for you, but if I misunderstood in any way, just let me know and I'll be happy to help get you in the right direction.
I think the root of this issue is that Printer Stations don't sync across multiple devices. You can set up a printer station on one iPad or Register and this Printer Station will not show up on another in your shop. It would be pretty cool, and would solve a lot of issues, if they did - feature request!
