Why does Square app constantly delete my cart if I am still working?

I have constantly had the issue where if I open the square app and begin checking out a customer and then we get to chatting, or they ask questions, I get back to the app and square after a certain amount of time deletes the items in their cart. It is so annoying. How do I fix this so the item stays in the cart until I check the customer out or create an invoice, etc.

Are you talking about in the Square app on iPad to check out a customer?  I just left an item in the cart for 60 minutes and nothing happened, it is still there.  The only thing I could think of is if you are tabbing away from the Square app and there isn't enough memory for the app to be frozen in state and when you go back it has to start the app from the beginning.

This happens when I’m on an iPad or my phone. I can’t leave an item there for more than 5 minutes. I can’t find anything in settings to change that. It’s very annoying.

there isn't a setting as that isn't something to change.  I'm not sure what is happening.  The item I added to my cart in the Square app on iPad has been in there for over 2 hours now and is still in there and I haven't touched the app.
