given just those 2 choices I would buy the newest one (which in this case is the iPad Air 2) and all you need is the lowest storage space. not knowing what the prices are you are looking and the fact these are quite old, I would recommend buying the newest iPad which is only $329 new and can be bought for $249 on sale if you watch target, best buy, and walmart., that way you have the newest model and it will last for 6+ years without being deemed obsolescent. The iPad Air 2 is already 4 years old and the iPad Air 1 is 5 years old already and you are buying very old technology in the sense of the speed tech improves and updates in a short time.
