It sounds like you may have accidentally set up a unit type for this item, @globet.
To check, head to the Item Library within your Square Dashboard, and locate the item in question. Click on it to edit it, then scroll to the Variations section of the page - if you see something other than Per Item here, this should explain why the numeric keyboard is coming up during checkout with this item.
