What kind of internet connection works best with the square at a convention show?
Hello @par-teegolf, welcome to the Seller Community! 🎉 This is an interesting question that other sellers might be wondering.
While I can't say for certain what type of internet works best for trade shows, as long as you are using cellular data or Wi-Fi you should not have any issues taking payments.
In the event that there is no Internet connection at the event you can process payments with Offline Mode. With Offline Mode, you can accept swiped card payments when your Internet service is unavailable. Offline payments are processed automatically when your device regains connectivity, but will expire if not processed within 72 hours.
It's also worth noting that by enabling Offline Mode, you’re responsible for any expired, declined, or disputed payments accepted while offline. Before swiping a card offline, it's definitely a good idea to verify the name of the cardholder as well as the expiration date to ensure it’s a valid card. If a payment card is declined, Square is unable to provide buyer contact information.

@RCT - curious if you've sold your art at shows where internet access wasn't a given - how'd it go for you?
@Kpay haven't really had that problem 🙂 some shows have their own wifi for us to connect to.
But, I have had a couple times where we lost internet access for a few of my transactions.
So I made sure to turn on the option to take transactions and save them.
Once internet access is back again, I processed whatever transactions were in cue.
It worked so far with the few I have had.
I use my phone as a hot spot to connect my Galaxy tablet. For those shows that have their on wifi for all of us to connect to, I don't need to use my phone as a hot spot.
Thanks for the reply, @RCT - using your phone as a hotspot is a good tip!
@par-teegolf - hope this is helpful! Let us know if you have any questions, and good luck at your show!
