What is the new computer square is offering for the customer side of the square stand and does it have a chip card reader built in?

yes, the new Square Register has chip, tap, and swipe all built into the customer display.

I was interested in what kind of computer the customer side machine is and how is contains the chip reader?

Hi @cheesemaker - Here are some photos of the Register. You can see both the larger employee facing display and the smaller customer facing display. All of the hardware is built by Square so no separate device or computer to purchase or that runs software.

That is not just a screen for the customer side. That screen is only a part of the whole Square Register device, which is a new standalone product that doesn't use iPads or anything like that. The Square Register is $999.
