What if the on-line order pickup time needs to be changed - since customer filled out wrong?

Hi. We set up our online store with Weebly and has generally been working well. We are getting a lot pre-orders before our location's opening time. We noticed occasionally a customer will want a different pickup time than what is listed for the order. Is there a way that the pickup time for an order can be edited?

 

I searched for this in previous questions in the community but did not find. I apologize in advance if I missed the thread.

 

Appreciate any help/guidance.

Hey @SoMa-BBQ  - what do you mean they need to change the time?

 

Which scenario would it be:

 

1. They already put in the order, but now they need to change the time?

- For this, there's not really a method to change it (Yet! This would be a great feature request! @ @kellyj).

- You don't necessarily need to do anything, you can just make a note of the correct time, and prepare accordingly - nothing will happen if they pick it up late or early.

Or if you really want it to reflect on the order, you can cancel & refund the order, and they can put in a new one at the correct time.

 

2. When they go to put in the order, they only get 1 available time and need to pick another timeslot.
- For this, you can enable "Allow Customer to Schedule Pickups" and they'll be able to choose any timeslot that you allow.

Thanks @pessosices. Yes it is your first case. They either put in a time that they now want to change ... or took default time that they only realized is wrong when they get their receipt. Yes we managed to flag manually so we didn't produce too early. We did about 60 pickup orders over past two nights. Have learned alot in how system behaves, how customers order. Also linked to TablesReady for more robust texting to coordinate curbside pickup. But that interface is lacking so I'm going to dig into Square SDK environment to better understand why it does not pass the phone info and pickup time properly. (My background in tech https://www.linkedin.com/in/ptlopez/) With some small mods, the environment is very promising IMO for small local shops to connect safely with customers in what I think is going to be new era. Thanks @kellyj@pessosices. I also joined the beta community and installed the app on my iphone & ipad. Feels to me like it really is the moment for this solution to solve some very common problems for small shops to do #curbsidepickup safely - in a period that I think will be much longer than we think. I think @tablesready is also a part of the solution and maybe others. My background is in tech. I am helping friends with local shops to rethink their models. My friends at SoMa represent a common use case being open Thurs-Sat 4-7PM. Thursday we had 30 orders then 33 orders last night. Over 50% are pre-orders placed the day before or earlier on the day-of. We had the one case where the customer needed to change their pickup time. Right now we have to cut and paste the phone number and pickup time into TablesReady. Seems like a small putt to get that working which would make for a terrific solution for many shops/restaurants. I am going to spend some time today getting familiar with Square's SDK to understand things better. Thanks again for all your help. -Pete
