I'm having trouble swiping my customers' credit cards. How, exactly do I do that? I punch in the amount owed, then swipe...nothing happens. So I punch in the amount owed, hit the charge button and then swipe...nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? As a result, I have to key in the data, which is time consuming and costs more.
What mobile device are you using? It has to be compatible with your reader. Are you using the free magstripe reader or the $29 chip card reader? There are a lot of possible issues. Check out these help pages:

I have also had trouble swiping and been charged extra for keying in the number. I was using the Square inserted into my Iphone.
