Star Micronics TSP650

Tried connecting a Star TSP650 printer to a different iPad (running iOS 15.5). It was connected to a similar iPad but this iPad. Model number not in compatible list but doesn’t make sense that it was connected but won’t now. If it matters, self-test print out says the printer is in Monochrome mode not iAp.

 

Can anyone help?

I had issues setting up my receipt printer years ago. I ended up calling star and have never had an issue since. I highly recommend giving them a call.

Was on the phone with Star tech support yesterday. We were unable to resolve my issue. It suspected that the Bluetooth is malfunctioning. Surprisingly, the printer successfully connected to original iPad this morning. I am now looking to purchase a new printer as soon as one becomes available — supply chain has disrupted availability.

Sorry to hear you were not able to resolve the issue with your printer. Is TSP650 the correct model number? I ask because I was not able to find this model on our list of compatible kitchen and receipt printers here.

Since the printer is able to work with one iPad and not the other and Star wasn't able to resolve the issue by troubleshooting, it sounds like there could potentially be an issue with the iPad that the printer is not able to connect to or your printer may still be paired by Bluetooth to the first iPad. I recommend going over the troubleshooting steps for your printer here.

Hi, Alanah!

 

Thanks for the input. During the conversation with Star, I was informed that TSP650 is a series number so the TSP654 on the compatibility list is the same printer. As for the Bluetooth connection, I was able to make a connection with either iPad yet the Square POS on both iPads didn’t recognize or connect with the printer. That’s what lead to the diagnosis that the Bluetooth is malfunctioning in my printer. Eventually, as I stated above, the printer was recognized by the original iPad, and is still working now.

 

My receipt printer is 6-7 years old so I plan on purchasing a new one just in case this continues to be an issue in the future.
