Square Terminal Features

Hello,

 

I am planning to purchase the new Square Terminal for a customer retail show (B2C) event that I will be attending soon. I have some questions:

 

1) I have a system were the sale occurs at 1 booth and pickup is from a different booth so does the terminal allow printing of order tickets? Don't really need the receipt as that can be emailed, but I can use that approach as well I guess i.e. print the receipt as the proof of order. 

 

2) Does the terminal allow reprinting of receipts / order tickets? At our sale booth, I will have 2 sales people making sales and if one person is using the square terminal, I may have another person with their phone completing another sale using the Square card reader. Can they print to the reader as well (over bluetooth or wifi)?

1) You can absolutely use the Terminal to print a paper receipt at the first booth for your customers to use as proof of purchase at the second booth.

 

You can either print a full receipt, or gift receipt, which will include the date and time of purchase along with the receipt ID. The receipt ID is searchable in Transactions - it's the only information you'd need to locate the correct product(s) when customers take receipts to the second booth.

 

Since you're planning to use paper receipts as order tickets, you can make sure your customers have a receipt to keep by either sending them one via email/text, or re-printing a paper one for them!

 

2) You can re-print a receipt as many times as you'd like; @Helen provided detailed steps in this thread.

 

As long as the person taking payments with their phone is logged in to receive payments on your behalf, payments from the mobile device and from your Terminal will both appear in your Transactions. Although you will not be able to print directly to your Terminal from a mobile device, you can print a receipt for a payment taken on a mobile device directly from the Terminal!

Hi Valentina I wanted to resurface this thread. When using the Square Register to take orders, how can the handheld register be configured to wirelessly print the order to a different bluetooth enabled printer on the same wifi network? We use the register to take the orders and handle customer payment/receipt. but the order itself needs to print out an order ticket on a different printer for staff to prepare. How can that work? Thank you

I have the Star Receipt Printer which is USB/Bluetooth/ethernet, only one device can be hooked up to it via Bluetooth at a time.  Now through USB only one square device can be used to connect to it unless you have it connected to a router with a USB printer port, then you might be able to share it.  The Ethernet connection is really the best way for sharing the printer over the same WiFi network.  I can walk around my store and take an order over the phone, and use my personal phone with Square on it to plug in the order and print a receipt out at my front counter to place with the customers items.  This is all while my 2 Square stands are also connected to that 1 receipt printer.

For off site locations I take my tablet that I use as a hotspot, a wireless repeater set to my hotspot, and plug a printer into it for receipts and the cash drawer.  Works like a charm.  My Ipads are the cheaper ones that only connect by WiFi not sim card slot or cell tower connections for my Ipads.
