Renaming and adding variants to my product - do I lose my reviews?

Hi - we’re selling a standard product with a red laser, which has raked up great reviews over the past 2 years. Those reviews are the capital we’ve worked for….

Now we’d like to introduce a variant: same product, but with a green laser. How do I make sure we keep our reviews????

Changes:
1) variant “regular” will be renamed to “red laser” …. Does this keep the reviews?

2) variant “green laser” will be added.  …. Does this inherit the reviews of variant (1)?

HI, changing Regular to Red is simple text change.  Adding green variation to same listing, yes, review text will remain.  If adding green as a separate listing, no, review text will not inherit.
