QR Code or Barcode

Hi!

How do I do one of the following:

1. Create a QR code for an item that is non restaurant for mobile that will always lead me to an option to pay. OR

2. Use a barcode to do the same thing so that barcode can be scanned on mobile devices.

Hello @tdb12 thanks for your question. Check out this post for info about using QR codes for checkout. Or if you're looking to create a QR code for just a specific item, go to your Dashboard online...and when you go to Items  > Create new item...you have the option to create a checkout link. I hope this helps answer your question.

I have the same question, I think. But HC Charlie's answer isn't what I'm looking for. Neither of those 2 posts are what I'm after. I just use the regular Square POS app on my android phone. I don't have Retail. I just want to be able to print a little label to put on my items that has a QR code or barcode, I then want to be able to take my phone and open the Square POS app and scan that code to find the item (instead of scrolling through hundreds of items or entering an sku manually), so the customer can pay quickly without waiting.

Hello @EricLivesay thanks for your post. I think you need a barcode scanner to pick up QR codes and barcodes, and i'm not sure if a barcode scanner can be attached to your phone. The camera option isn't available within the Square phone App. The easiest thing I can think of is to create SKU numbers for each item, and just print the SKU number/code on a label and place on each item.

You won't be able to scan a barcode, but you can search your inventory by typing in the SKU number on the phone. If you keep your SKUs short, it wouldn't take much to type them. And if you create the SKUs by category, it could help stay manageable. For example, if you sell soaps, start all your soap SKU numbers with SP, followed by a number for each scent. SP01, SP02, etc. Then when someone checks out with a bar of soap, you already know you'll type in and search SP....and then just a number.

I know it's not ideal, but could be quicker than searching for a description of the item that you may or may not remember how you entered the item into inventory.
