Printing additional orders on tickets

Using square terminal in a cocktail bar

We ring in the 1st round of drinks print the ticket and save to tab 1.

If we order the 2nd round and print to bill and add to table 1, it creates a new table 1 so for 6 rounds on table 1 we end up with 6 tickets all called 1.

if we open the ticket first and add the drinks and add items to ticket it works fine ie it saves all drinks on same table.

Problem is we want to print each order seperate so the staff can use the ticket to prepare each round of drinks.

Any ideas?

Hey @KathleensBar - can you just confirm the hardware and pos version you're using as in my head I can't follow the workflow. It might be interchangeable words with table/ticket/tab that's confusing me!

When you go into a tab and add items then save again my understanding is that this should then print a new order ticket with just the new items.

When you create a new order, hit tickets and tap the existing tab name then this should add those items to the current tab and print the order tickets.

I've tested this behavior just on my phone (terminal at work) and it's working as expected.

Sam i will test this one night when we are closed.

As far as i can see Square Terminal is up to date.

It only allows me to open an active ticket, add drinks, and add to ticket. No option to print what you have just added seperate.

ie. When you choose to print is prints everything on the ticket including old items and new items.

Hey @KathleensBar, thanks for your post, and thank you @Sam_400º for stepping in here.

I just tested this on my own Square Terminal and was able to create a ticket, print it, and save it without closing it out. If you have a Square Terminal handy, could you try going through the following steps to check if the workflow is working as expected? These are as follows:

  1. On your Square Terminal, select the items you'd like to add to your ticket
  2. Once added, click on Review Sale, and click on the three dots on the top right corner of the Terminal Screen and click on Print Bill.
  3. Once your ticket is printed, click on Save Ticket.
  4. If you'd like to add more items to your ticket, click on tickets to view them and add more items as you please.

Add the moment, there isn't a way to only print the newly added items only, you would need to print the entire ticket again.

Can you let me know once you've tried that? I can further investigate if it doesn't work for you.

@k_atie - if you set up to auto print kitchen tickets then just the new items should print when the ticket is saved.
