My Chip Card Reader doesn't seem to be connecting with the Square App

Currently, my Chip Card Reader is not connecting with the Square app, which is forcing me to swipe all of my credit card transactions (not good). The reader itself will connect to my Blue Tooth via my phone, however, when it comes to opening the Square App and "syncing" the Chip Card Reader, nothing happens. It just says that I am connected with the Magnetic Swipe Reader because it is already plugged into my phone's audio port. I also tried filing a Warranty Claim, but it requires a 14-character Serial Number, and the Chip Reader has a 16-character one so I am unable to enter the entire thing. My only other option is to purchase a new Chip Card Reader for another $49, when in fact I feel as though this may fall under the Warranty catagory and I should be able to get a replacement one for free (if only I could enter my SN...).  Please help, as I am not too happy that I am forced to manually swipe Chip Cards, when the whole point of this Chip Card Reader was to make myself and my clients feel more at ease. Thank you.

Edited To Add: yes, I have already done all of the Troubleshooting techniques that are listed on the Troubleshooting page.
