I noticed when I have a customer who is duplicated in my system, but have 2 different emails or phone #s tied to their names, and if I merge their information, I lose one of the emails or phone #s associated with them. What happens to that other email and/or phone#? Is it still tied to their information? How will this impact capturing transaction information in the future? Will that data no longer be associated with that customer? What if their preferred email and phone number is the one that dropped off? I am desperately trying to understand this interferace. Because no matter what I do to try to carefully clean up my data, I end up losing valuable information somewhere. It is very frustrating.
Thank you.
Hi @Alibon
That sounds strange, were you merging customers based on the suggestions being given to you?
The duplicate suggestion should be triggered if two or more customers share the same email address and/or phone number, so when they're merged together the information should be retained in the new single customer profile.
Capturing transaction information shouldn't be impacted in the future so long as their customer profile is attached to the sale itself.
