Merging Customer Profiles

Hi! Recently, we've merged a customer's two profiles. We later learned that the phone number of one of the profiles is the number of another customer, and it's the one transferred after the merge.
 
We wonder why wasn't the active number transferred. There's also a notification that the system was able to detect that another customer owns the transferred number. Is there a way to correct this in the system so we won't have the same problem in the future? Thank you.

At this time selecting manually which customer profile stays is a feature request. My best advice is to screenshot or write down the information that you would like to keep and merge after.
