I sell loose tea by the ounce, and can customers can get 10% off if they purchase 16oz or more of one tea. Unfortunately, my staff often forget to apply the 10% discount, which results in unhappy customers.
I have tried setting up an automatic discount several times over the last couple of years, but it never seems to work the way I want it to and I don't know if I'm missing something or if it's not supported by Square.
Here's what I've done:
Unfortunately that doesn't work. A customer could buy 4oz of 4 different teas and get the discount. Another problem is that they could buy 16oz of one tea and 4oz of another and the discount winds up splitting between the two (for example, when buying 16oz of Irish Breakfast and 4oz of Keemun, the discount covers 4oz of Keemun and 12oz Irish Breakfast while 4oz of Irish Breakfast remains at full price).
I need the discount to apply solely to the item with a quantity of at least 16oz. Is that possible with the current system?
One workaround I thought of is to create a discount for each tea, assigning one tea to each discount. However, with over 70 teas and a seasonal selection of 5-10 teas that's just not manageable for me.
