Is there a way to search transactions by item sold?

Our retailer is a small museum and I'm trying to pull up payment information just for our Memberships that were sold through the Museum Store. Is there a way to search transactions by Item Sold, or a way to attach Items to Customers?

Solution

You can search transactions by Item.  Go to Sales / Transactions in your dashboard.  Set your filters and at the right, you will see a search box that says card #.  Click the drop-down and change it to item then enter the item name.  Hit enter and it will display only transactions with this item.

You can add the customer to the sale during the sale.  When viewing the current sale screen there is a down arrow at the top right.  Click on that will let you add a customer to the sale.

You can add a customer to the sale after the fact as well.  When you find the transaction as indicated above, click on it and click add customer.

I had no idea you could do this! I do feel like it makes more sense as a side panel in Reports but this works for now.

Feature Request:

At the Square For Retail POS, please enable the ability to Search Transactions in two ways:

By Item

By Scanning the Barcode

When you click on Transactions, and go to the search box, you should be able to scan the barcode on the receipt or type in part of the Item name to find the transaction.

There are many reasons this is important and why it should be a basic feature.  If a customer brings in a gift they received, they will not have access to the buyer's credit card and they likely will not have the receipt.  Searching by Item is the only way to assist that customer.  Our store uses the Square Register as our POS.  By purchasing that, I unknowingly limited what my staff can do and how they help customers because they can't access the web and Square Dashboard from the register.  Therefore, a transaction can only be looked up from a computer in the office and only when the manager is present.  Also, the ability to scan the receipt from the Search Transactions page of the POS should be a simple feature to add.  Yes, you can search by receipt number, but inputting letters both upper case and lower case for a staff/volunteer member over the age of 50 is difficult.  It just is.  If you can scan from elsewhere, you should be able to scan from there.

Thanks for listening and considering!
