Is there a way to only charge a tip on a persons card?

If a person wants to pay cash for a service through the appointment app and pay the tip with their credit card how can I do that?

@AngEsthetician The easiest way is to come with an item called "gratuity" or something along those lines and just charge the customer the charge and then fix it on the back end with your accounting.  Otherwise the minimum charge for square is 1.00, you can make a 1.00 item and then they can add a tip, but the tip amount will be limited.

I would encourage the customer and ask how much they want to tip and I would ring up the service and do a split tender transaction.  If the service is 50$ and they want to tip 10$, I would do a split tender and charge 10$ to the card and pay the rest of the service out as cash and put the tip aside or in a tip jar as cash.  The net transaction to the customer is exactly the same, and it would really be clean on the business side.

Hope this helps,
