Example: Customer has a $100 gift card, and uses it for part of his $150 ticket and puts the rest on a credit card, but when the receipt prints out with the automatic tip boxes for 15, 18, 20%, it only is accounting for the $50 that he paid on credit card.
Is there a way to change that?
This isn't specific to gift cards, sadly. Whenever you have a split transaction, the tip is based solely on the amount of whatever the split amount is.
Your best workaround right now is to enable Custom Tip Amounts. It's a long shot if the customer will notice they're only tipping on a partial amount, but it's the best we have right now.
@Caty , @Helen : this is a good one for Feature Requests. Not sure how much of a pain it would be to make this happen where the customer is given the option of a tip percentage on the whole transaction amount especially when there is a gift card involved, but it's something to look into!
