Writing as an employee for an organization that uses square; I’ve run into a problem and hoping to resolve it myself as to not bother the much busier higher-ups. A customer just bought a 25$ gift card and a few other things and paid in cash. I did the change in my head so I forgot to run the ticket through and record it. It sat for a while until I came back and the app refreshed and the ticket was lost, voiding the gift card as it never went through. Now I have 25$ in cash and a roaming customer with an empty gift card (to which I do not know the number) and no contact information. I’m hoping there’s a way to bring up some sort of gift card history or retrieve that ticket or somoething so I can just load the money onto it manually. Thank you for your help.
Update: I made a sale yesterday which used up a gift card, which I then put on top of the pile of gift cards. I’ve used my detective skills to confirm this is the card I then “sold” today and need to load money onto. I have access to yesterday’s transaction and can see the last four digits of this elusive card. Surely there is a way to access the rest of this card’s information / load money onto it via this transaction?
Hello @Fishmann, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble!
Unfortunately we do not have a way to recover a voided sale or ticket. With Square gift cards we do not store the full gift card number on the Square Dashboard. In this scenario the customer would have to come in the store and you'd have to reload the value onto the gift card.
I know it's not a great situation by any means, but there's not much we can do when a sale voids. 😞
