I've lost the option to use the chip reader on my square app. I can manually enter a card's information but the option to use the chip reader has disappeared. How do I get it back?

First thing to check: at the top of your app, in the white bar, does it say "✔️ Reader"? If it does, then the app should be seeing the reader. Tap on that line, then Contactless and Chip Reader. Tap the identify button. If the app is actually seeing the reader, four orange lights should blink when you do this. If those lights don't blink, the app doesn't actually see the reader.
If the app isn't seeing the reader, try pairing the reader again. More -> Settings -> Hardware -> Square Card Readers. Tap the connect a reader button and follow the steps. That should reconnect your reader.
I also recommend verifying you're on the latest version of Square. You can check that in your device's App Store. Many times if you are behind a version or two weird things start happening, including readers randomly disconnecting.
If after all that you're still having troubles connecting your reader, I recommend calling into Customer Support. They have a few account-specific tricks up their sleeves that may help further than we can in a public forum.
